I hope Japan becomes a place that empowers REAL diversity

"I study Law at university.
Back in high school, I thought that I should know the rules of the society, so I chose this major.

I live with an exchange student now.
I support his daily life as a Japanese student.
My role is called a "resident assistant".

I became one as wanted to live in an environment to use English daily, for preparing to go to Law School in the United States after graduation.

You know, in Japan everybody is talking about "respecting diversity"
But I think Japan is still quite domestic in reality.

For example, women are expect to get married by the time they're 30. Even if they aren't directly told so, I think there are many of them who feel the pressure in society.

So I think it's better if there would be no pressure to get married, both for men and women. There shouldn't be such a "must".
Well, it's fine to get married though!

Also, LGBT people.
Like other countries, there are minorities and other people in Japan with different values and beliefs. I want to spread this fact through exchange students and other people from abroad. If everyone understood it, the world would be a much better place to live in. I'm sure there'll be frictions, but we must push through there.

I hope Japan becomes a place that empowers REAL diversity."
