The core of the movie was that you have to compromise.

"We are big fans of Ghibli."
"Which one is your favorite?"
"Princess Mononoke. It's a good story with the connection to nature. While all of Ghiblis movies, at least Miyazaki's, usually have some sort of connection to nature, here, the core of the movie was that you have to compromise between man's drive to control nature and nature's power by itself."
