I think that's beautiful.

"I'm working in Africa. It's a job for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and I help them with developing processed sea foods. In Africa their infrastructure is underdeveloped. So they don't have electricity and so they don't have refrigerators. As a result, they spoil all their fish they catch. But if you process those fish and make them into fish-sausages, they will be able to eat them for two to three months. So I go there and teach them how."

- That sounds really fulfilling.
"Sure it is! Africa is exciting. Everyone is honest. No one tries to look good in front of others. No one owns brand stuff. But they are a very proud people so they wear their ethnic clothing and I think that's beautiful. I love it. In Japan, people have their weddings at churches even though their non-religious. That's okay but the honesty of Africans are beautiful.

The war started when I was in second grade and ended in sixth. Then in 1946 I entered girl's high school. The Japan then is just like Africa now. Everyone is beautiful. The kids are full of joy even though they are extremely poor. It's like seeing the old Japan and I love it. So that's why I want to do what I can to help."

- You look full of energy.
"I'm 80, you know."

- What? You don't look 80 at all.
"Right? That's because I'm careful about what I eat. Choosing carefully what you eat leads to a healthy body. As long as you are healthy you can do whatever you like. So don't be unhealthy."
